Hawaii Pizza Toasted Sandwich Recipe
The Hawaii Pizza Toasted Sandwich is a delicious fusion of a classic pizza and a comforting toasted sandwich. Perfect for a quick lunch or a light dinner, this recipe combines the tangy sweetness of pineapple with savory ham and melted cheese, all encased in crispy, golden bread.

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of bread (preferably sourdough or your favorite sandwich bread)
  • 4 slices of ham
  • 4 pineapple rings (canned or fresh)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 tablespoons pizza sauce
  • 2 tablespoons butter (for grilling)
  • Optional: a pinch of dried oregano or basil for extra flavor

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Sandwiches:
    • Spread a tablespoon of pizza sauce on one side of each bread slice.
    • Place a slice of ham on the pizza sauce.
    • Add a pineapple ring on top of the ham.
    • Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese over the pineapple.
  2. Assemble:
    • Place another slice of bread on top to close the sandwich, ensuring the pizza sauce side is facing inward.
  3. Butter the Bread:
    • Spread butter on the outside of each slice of bread. This will help achieve a golden, crispy texture when grilled.
  4. Grill the Sandwiches:
    • Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
    • Place the sandwiches on the skillet, cooking for 2-3 minutes on each side or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
    • If you have a sandwich press, you can use it to grill the sandwiches more evenly.
  5. Serve:
    • Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them cool for a minute.
    • Slice each sandwich in half and serve warm.
