Ingredients:
- 300g (10.5 oz) penne pasta
- 500g (1 lb) ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (400g) marinara sauce
- 1 can (400g) diced tomatoes, drained
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Fresh basil or parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
- Cook the Pasta:
- Boil the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Prepare the Meat Sauce:
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onions and cook until they become translucent.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up into crumbles as it cooks.
- Once the beef is fully cooked, drain any excess grease.
- Mix in the Sauce:
- Add the marinara sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper to the skillet with the beef. Stir to combine and let it simmer for 5-7 minutes.
- Assemble the Bake:
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta with the meat sauce.
- Transfer the pasta mixture to a greased baking dish.
- Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly over the top.
- Bake:
- Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- If you like a golden top, broil for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Serve:
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly.
- Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired.
- Serve hot with a side of garlic bread and a salad.
