Savory Pasta and Meat Bake Recipe

Preparation Time:

Ingredients:

  • 300g (10.5 oz) penne pasta
  • 500g (1 lb) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (400g) marinara sauce
  • 1 can (400g) diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Fresh basil or parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Pasta:
  • Boil the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  1. Prepare the Meat Sauce:
  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onions and cook until they become translucent.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up into crumbles as it cooks.
  • Once the beef is fully cooked, drain any excess grease.
  1. Mix in the Sauce:
  • Add the marinara sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper to the skillet with the beef. Stir to combine and let it simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  1. Assemble the Bake:
  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta with the meat sauce.
  • Transfer the pasta mixture to a greased baking dish.
  • Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly over the top.
  1. Bake:
  • Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • If you like a golden top, broil for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  1. Serve:
  • Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly.
  • Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired.
  • Serve hot with a side of garlic bread and a salad.
